Cambodia Partners with Abbott Nutrition to Enhance Hospital Nutritional Care

The Cambodian Ministry of Health and Abbott Nutrition International have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at expanding the scope and elevating the standards of nutritional care for hospitalized patients across Cambodia. The agreement was formalized on July 20, 2026. This collaboration focuses on enhancing the systematic approach to nutritional therapy within hospitals. Minister of Health Professor Chheang Ra highlighted that robust nutritional care, grounded in scientific evidence, is crucial for reducing medical complications, shortening hospital stays, lowering readmission rates, and ultimately decreasing the financial burden on patients. The three-year MOU outlines three priority pillars for cooperation: 1. National Guideline Development: Establishing national guidelines for nutritional care that can be effectively implemented in Cambodian hospitals. 2. Capacity Building: Facilitating training and knowledge transfer to strengthen the capabilities of Cambodian healthcare professionals and experts. 3. Hospital Implementation: Introducing the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) in selected national hospitals and exploring further collaboration opportunities, including early disease detection and prevention. The signing ceremony was attended by high-level representatives from the Ministry of Health, the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia, the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC), and Abbott. This partnership signifies a commitment to reinforcing the collaboration between Cambodia and the United States, contributing to a more robust and sustainable healthcare system in Cambodia.
