Cycling Event in Angkor Park Draws Strong Interest During Green Season

On September 20, 2026, Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism presided over the opening ceremony of the "Green Season Angkor Night Event" cycling event in Siem Reap Province. Under the theme "Sports Connecting with Tourism," the event was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, the Siem Reap Provincial Administration, the Apsara Authority, and the Angkor National Museum. Approximately 12 kilometers of cycling routes were designated, attracting a total of 1,299 participants, exceeding initial expectations. The participants included representatives from the private sector, content creators, Influencers, KOLs, and domestic and international tourists. Notably, international visitors from France, Belgium, Germany, Japan, and China were present. The event aims to promote and boost sports tourism products by cycling through forest routes in the Angkor region. It also serves to publicize the "Angkor Night Event," scheduled from September 21 to 23, thereby stimulating domestic tourism and attracting more visitors to Siem Reap during the green season. Speaking at the occasion, Minister of Tourism, Hout Hak, emphasized that the cycling event is a complementary program to celebrate the Angkor Night Event and acts as a bridge connecting participants with cultural and natural heritage, creating new and unforgettable tourism experiences in the magnificent Angkor region. The Minister urged citizens, athletes, youth, and tourists to foster national pride, love for the homeland, and an understanding of the land, while contributing to the preservation of heritage and nature, in line with the vision of "Tourism Connected with the Land" and "Loving the Nation Means Knowing the Land." He added that collective participation would demonstrate to the world that Cambodia is a safe, warm, and hospitable tourist destination, always welcoming visitors from all corners of the globe. Concurrently, the Minister instructed the Ministry of Tourism's working group to continue collaborating with the provincial administration, ministries, institutions, and relevant parties to organize the "Green Season Angkor Night Event" annually. He further directed that the event be included in the Ministry of Tourism's annual Events Calendar to develop it into a prominent and attractive sports tourism event for Siem Reap and Cambodia.
