Cambodia Reviews Progress in Combating Human Trafficking, Sets Future Direction
Cambodia's Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training hosted a meeting of the Migration Working Group of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking. Phnom Penh, Cambodia – On June 30, 2026, the Migration Working Group of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (NCCT) held a meeting at the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training to review the work results of the first half of 2026 and set the direction for the subsequent half-year. The meeting was led by Mr. Seng Sakda, Secretary of State, representing H.E. Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training. It was attended by 43 members of the Migration Working Group, representing various government ministries, institutions, employer associations, and international organizations, including 12 women. The primary objectives of the meeting were to review and evaluate the work accomplished in the first half of 2026, discuss the draft report of the working group, and determine the work direction for the following half-year. The gathering also aimed to strengthen cooperation between ministries, relevant institutions, development partners, and stakeholders to effectively prevent, combat, suppress, and respond to human trafficking under the guise of labor migration. During the occasion, Mr. Seng Sakda stated that the meeting unanimously agreed on the draft report of the Migration Working Group's work results for the first half of 2026. The report focuses on enhancing awareness, prevention, deterrence, and support for victims of human trafficking, and will be submitted to the NCCT for review and approval. Concurrently, the participants expressed their commitment to further strengthen cooperation and coordinate the implementation of work among relevant parties in protecting, preventing, and promoting the effective enforcement of laws related to human trafficking, labor exploitation, and sexual exploitation under the form of labor migration.
