Vietnamese Designer Unveils Orchid-Inspired Haute Couture

Vietnamese designer Chung Thanh Phong is set to unveil 80 haute couture designs inspired by rare mutated orchids in Ho Chi Minh City. Titled "CTP No.3," the collection, launching on August 2, represents one of his most time-consuming and meticulously crafted works, exploring the unique beauty of these distinctive flowers. Phong stated, "No one is born the same, just as no two orchids possess the same beauty. Each individual is unique, created by differences that cannot be replicated." The Autumn-Winter 2026 collection emphasizes artisanal craftsmanship, featuring hand-embroidered orchids using gradient threads, a process that took over six months to complete. The designs incorporate contrasting textures from materials like chiffon, lace, silk, and velvet, alongside metallic elements, sequins, and reflective details. Liquid silk, requiring high draping techniques for soft, precise folds, is also extensively used throughout the collection. For the show's promotional campaign, Phong enlisted prominent Vietnamese fashion figures from various eras as his muses, including Lan Khue, Ha Anh, Huong Ly, Huynh Tu Anh, and Lai Mai Hoa. Each model embodies a different style—rebellious, elegant, or sensual—collectively forming a visual narrative that embodies the spirit of the show. The event is expected to host approximately 400 guests, comprising celebrities from fashion, music, and film, as well as journalists and international experts. Beyond the designs, the show will feature elevated makeup and hairstyling under the direction of visual director Tee Le, enhancing the haute couture essence of each ensemble. This show marks the return of director Pham Hoang Nam to the fashion stage after a 10-year hiatus. Nam is renowned for his visual artistry and his ability to tell stories through light. Chung Thanh Phong is recognized as a leading designer in Vietnam's fashion industry, particularly for ready-to-wear, evening gowns, and bridal wear. His previous notable shows include "CTP No.1," "Phong," "CTP No.2," "Dear My Princess," "I AM What I AM," "She's A Goddess," and "I Dreamed A Dream." His creations have been worn by numerous A-list celebrities both domestically and internationally, including Fan Bingbing, Jolin Tsai, Katy Perry, Paris Hilton, Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu, and Vietnamese stars Pham Huong, Nha Phuong, Hari Won, Chi Pu, and Midu.
