A major Chinese business group has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to investment and cooperation in Cambodia across sectors like real estate, finance, and infrastructure. This highlights Cambodia's economic growth and deepening ties with China.
AKP Phnom Penh, August 7, 2026 -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this afternoon received a courtesy call from a delegation from the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Entrepreneurs Alliance (GBA Alliance) at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh. The delegation was led by Mr. Jonathan K.S. Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group, Chairman of the CGCC in Hong Kong, and Chairman of the GBA Alliance. The meeting focused on strengthening economic cooperation and exploring opportunities to further expand investment and business collaboration in Cambodia. Sunwah Group, one of Hong Kong's leading conglomerates, was established in 1957 as a seafood processing and distribution company. Over the past several decades, it has developed into a diversified international enterprise with investments spanning real estate, financial services, technology, infrastructure, education, media, and green technology. The company has maintained a presence in Cambodia for more than three decades. It first entered the Cambodian market in 1994 by establishing a seafood processing factory primarily serving export markets. Since then, Sunwah Group has broadened its investments in the Kingdom to include real estate, trade, and major development projects in Phnom Penh, reflecting its long-term confidence in Cambodia's economic potential and investment climate. The courtesy call underscored the continued interest of major Chinese enterprises in expanding cooperation with Cambodia, as the Kingdom continues to attract foreign investment and deepen its economic ties with China under their comprehensive strategic partnership.
