House aid program assists over 7,000 beneficiaries with P381.5M

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives’ assistance center “Suporta sa Bayan” (Support to the People) Desk has been able to deliver P381.5 million worth of assistance to 7,174 beneficiaries since the program was launched on March 18, according to a report from the office of House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III released Monday. The “Suporta sa Bayan” Desk was established on March 18, 2024, to address various assistance requests from the public. The assistance provided is understood to cover a wide range of needs, including medical, educational, and emergency aid. While this program signifies the government's direct commitment to improving public welfare, its effectiveness and sustainability will require further scrutiny. Economic disparity remains a significant challenge in the Philippines, with many citizens struggling to secure basic necessities and access healthcare services. Such assistance programs can offer temporary relief to those in need. However, broader economic policies and job creation initiatives are essential for addressing the root causes of poverty.
