South Korea Showcases Power & Energy Tech in Vietnam, Targeting $100M Deals

The 'Elecs Vietnam 2026' exhibition, showcasing South Korea's prowess in the power and energy sectors, opened in Ho Chi Minh City on July 15-17. The event features nearly 200 booths with 135 participating companies, expecting over 10,000 visitors. Jointly organized by the Korea Electrical Industry Cooperative (KOEMA), Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), and Coex, the exhibition aims to highlight Korean companies' technological capabilities and foster expanded cooperation within Vietnam and the ASEAN region. The scope of exhibits covers a wide range, including power generation (including nuclear), transmission and distribution equipment, renewable energy, smart grids, energy storage systems (ESS), and next-generation power solutions. Notably, LS Electric and HD Hyundai Electric presented their 'K-Electric' solutions, such as high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems for AI data centers and ESS integrated with renewable energy sources. KEPCO, KEPCO KDN, Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO), Korea South-East Power (KOSEP), along with 96 Korean SMEs, are showcasing their nuclear technology at the 'K-Nuclear' pavilion, seeking partnership opportunities in the region. KEPCO, in collaboration with 39 SMEs, has opened a joint booth to facilitate access for these companies to partners and projects in Vietnam. Organizers anticipate a potential of $250 million in consulting and export transactions through 1:1 business matching sessions. The event is also aligned with Vietnam's push for key infrastructure projects, including high-speed railways, to expand cooperation between businesses of both nations. An Elecs Technical Program, involving KEPCO, LS Electric, and others, will discuss solutions for power grid efficiency, smart grids, and digital diagnostics for substations in Vietnam, alongside sharing Korea's experience in electrical equipment standards and safety management. Elecs Vietnam 2026 is held concurrently with Vietnam ETE 2026 (Vietnam International Electronics and Telecommunication Technologies Exhibition) and Vietnam Greenergy Expo 2026 (Vietnam International Exhibition on Energy Saving & Green Technology), bringing together approximately 300 power and energy companies to foster international collaboration. Mr. Kim Hwa Young, Standing Vice Chairman of KOEMA, noted the positive signals in Vietnam's power market and expressed hope that the exhibition would boost digital transformation and AI adoption in the energy sector for both countries. Mr. Cho Sang Hyun, Chairman of Coex, stated their aim to establish Elecs Vietnam as an ASEAN hub for infrastructure and energy business connections.
