Secret directive from the junta army to quickly send youths for conscription batch-27 leaked in Myitnge

In Myitnge Township, Mandalay Region, a secret directive has been sent from the chairman of the Township Conscription Committee to ward and village administrative bodies, instructing them to quickly select youths by lottery and send them to the assembly point for Conscription Training Batch-27 of the junta army, according to leaked documents. Citing a directive from the District Conscription Committee dated July 10, the Myitnge Township Conscription Committee has been instructed to carry out this action to meet the allocated military strength target. The directive states that ward and village group census teams must select individuals from among those eligible under the People's Conscription Law in their respective areas using the lottery method stipulated in Rule 31(b). According to the main stipulation of the order, for Conscription Training Batch-27, each ward/village group must quickly send the designated number of individuals to the assembly point between July 15 and July 22. Furthermore, it is stated that even small ward/village groups with fewer than 200 residents, which were previously excluded, must send conscription-eligible youths once every two weeks. Myitnge Township Conscription Committee Chairman Zaw Aung Lay has issued a threatening warning that failure to comply within the specified period will result in effective punitive action. Currently, the junta army has opened training courses up to Conscription Training Batch-26. According to the junta's plan, approximately 5,000 people are designated to be recruited per batch, and since the implementation of the conscription law over two years ago, a total of about 100,000 to 130,000 people have been forcibly recruited. The fact that the junta army is accelerating the implementation of the conscription law up to Batch-27 in Myitnge Township, and is now ordering even villages with fewer than 200 residents to send conscripts without exception, indicates the growing need for military personnel. Moreover, the fact that lower-level ward/village administrative bodies are being pressured to comply with threats of punishment if they do not, highlights the declining obedience within the administrative mechanism and the increasing prevalence of information leaks, a military analyst told the Irrawaddy Times.
