P3.8-M School Property Burns in Zamboanga City Fire
A fire early Sunday at Taluksangay Elementary School in Zamboanga City destroyed a two-story, 10-classroom building, causing an estimated P3.8 million in damages to government property. No casualties were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
ZAMBOANGA CITY – An estimated P3.8 million worth of government school property went up in smoke early Sunday in this city. Supt. Leo Pioquinto, Zamboanga City Fire District (ZCFD) marshal, said the fire destroyed a two-story 10-classroom school building in Taluksangay Elementary School. “The fire that consumed the school building started around 4:28 a.m. and was contained at about 5:04 a.m.,” he said in a report. Four fire trucks from the Bureau of Fire Protection’s ZCFD responded to the incident. They were backed by two water tankers from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
