Kanyin Hydropower Project completion to supply electricity to over 10,000 households in addition to agriculture sector

Upon completion of the Kanyin Hydropower Project, electricity will be supplied to over 10,000 households in addition to the agriculture sector, according to a statement from the Ayeyarwady Region Government. This announcement was made after the Chief Minister of the Ayeyarwady Region and responsible officials conducted an on-site inspection of the project site at the Kanyin Dam on July 22. The Kanyin 10.5 Megawatt Hydropower Project, being implemented at the Kanyin Dam in Angyee Town, Myan Aung District, is being undertaken by Hydro Power Co.,Ltd. During the visit of the Chief Minister and his delegation, officials from Kanyin Hydro Power Co.,Ltd explained the status of the project, including the generation of a total of 10.5 megawatts from three Horizontal Francis Turbines, each capable of producing 3.5 megawatts, the potential to produce 35.774 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, the connection to the national grid, and the progress of the project work. The 10.5 Megawatt Kanyin Hydropower Project will not only support irrigation agriculture but also generate electricity, thus greatly benefiting agriculture, electricity supply, and regional development. The project is expected to produce approximately 35.774 million units of electricity annually. Assuming an average household consumption of about 100 units per month, it is estimated that electricity can be supplied to about 10,500 households, according to the regional government's statement. To connect the electricity generated by the Kanyin Hydropower Project to the national power grid, a 33/66 kV substation is being constructed in Htoo Gyi Town, Angyee Township.
