Following General Secretary and President To Lam's visit to France, a senior executive from Thales Group highlighted that the upgrade of Vietnam-France ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership signifies a shared desire to deepen cooperation in technological autonomy, resilience, and human resource development, proposing new avenues in energy and technology, and leveraging overseas Vietnamese resources.
Following General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam’s visit to France, Guy Bonassi, Senior Vice-President of Latin America and Asia at Thales Group, stated that the upgrade of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership reflects the shared desire to deepen and broaden cooperation, with technological autonomy, resilience, and human resource development assuming increasingly important roles. Bonassi expressed his expectation that this elevated partnership will open up new development space for Vietnam-France relations. He specifically pointed out that strengthening cooperation in the energy and technology sectors can create new momentum. Furthermore, he highlighted the utilization of resources and networks held by overseas Vietnamese as a crucial element for the development of bilateral ties. Vietnam is currently experiencing rapid economic growth under its one-party system, with a particular focus on expanding its manufacturing and export industries. In this context, adopting advanced technologies and strengthening supply chains are vital strategies for reducing economic dependence on China and enhancing economic sustainability. The proposed strengthening of strategic partnership with France aligns with Vietnam's national strategies. This business leader's proposal suggests an aim not only for economic cooperation but also for enhanced collaboration in more strategic areas such as security and technological development. Amidst rising geopolitical tensions, Vietnam is seeking to strengthen ties with diverse partners to maximize its national interests. The enhanced relationship with France also holds significant importance in deepening its connections with Europe.
