Myanmar President to Make State Visit to Cambodia in September

Myanmar's President Min Aung Hlaing will undertake a state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia on September 11-12, 2026. The schedule for this visit was confirmed on September 3 by Mr. Chin Khetna, Secretary-General of the National Committee for Organizing National and International Events. He announced this information while leading a meeting to divide duties and prepare a detailed action plan for the reception and farewell of the delegation led by President Min Aung Hlaing. During the meeting, Mr. Chin Khetna instructed the relevant parties to prepare ceremonial affairs, security, order, and aesthetics to ensure the success of this state-level event. He particularly emphasized the importance of ensuring security throughout the visit, directing all types of armed forces and competent authorities to cooperate to guarantee safety until the visit is fully concluded. It is noteworthy that since officially assuming the presidency in April, President Min Aung Hlaing has been intensifying diplomatic visits to ASEAN countries. He made his first state visit to Laos in early July, visited Thailand in early August, and is scheduled to visit Vietnam from September 4-6. Mr. Chea Thireth, spokesperson for the Senate, stated that this visit is aimed at strengthening the relationship and cooperation between Cambodia and Myanmar. During his visit to Cambodia, President Min Aung Hlaing is scheduled to hold meetings with top Cambodian dignitaries, including Samdech Akka Moha Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia. It is recalled that Myanmar's military leader, Min Aung Hlaing, was elected civilian president through an election held at the end of 2025 and was sworn into office on April 10, 2026, following the election at the end of 2025.
