Authorities had issued arrest warrants for Phra Khru Bowonsaranat Athichat, 41, identified as the abbot, and Chanakan, 18, a senior novice monk. They are charged with sexual assault of individuals in a state of inability to resist, and sexual acts with minors under 15, regardless of consent, particularly concerning those under 13. The two suspects fled the temple on June 25 and were reportedly in Phrae province. Police later tracked them returning to the Songkhla area. They were apprehended on June 28 at approximately 9:30 PM at the Chawuat Highway Police Patrol Service Center in Chawuat district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, while driving in civilian clothing.
