Six Dead, Several Injured in Zamboanga Del Sur Van Crash

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur – Six people died and several others were injured in a tragic road accident in Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur on Tuesday around 12 p.m. According to a police report, the accident was caused by a speeding van that allegedly lost its brakes. The crash occurred on the national highway in Barangay Paglaum. Eyewitness accounts and initial investigations suggest that the vehicle went out of control and overturned while traveling on the highway. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Road accidents due to aging vehicles and poor maintenance are a persistent issue in the Philippines. It has been pointed out that regular inspections and proper maintenance, crucial for commercial vehicles operating long distances, are often neglected due to cost-saving measures. This accident may also be linked to such systemic problems. Authorities are questioning the owner and driver of the vehicle and are examining maintenance records to fully understand the accident.
