UWSA repatriates 28 Chinese nationals caught entering illegally via border gate

Mekong, July 27 The United Wa State Army (UWSA) announced today, July 27, that it has repatriated 28 Chinese nationals who entered the Wa region illegally, sending them back to China via a border gate. According to the UWSA's announcement, the Chinese nationals repatriated this time voluntarily registered at a designated location, and were subsequently repatriated to China by the UWSA. On July 20, the UWSA also handed over 35 Chinese nationals who had entered illegally to the Chinese police via a border gate. Furthermore, on July 7, the UWSA arrested 192 Chinese individuals and repatriated them to China. The UWSA has been repatriating Chinese nationals who entered the Wa region illegally to China, and has already repatriated 1,065 illegal Chinese entrants in 2026. The UWSA stated that over the past five years, from 2020 to 2026, it has repatriated 88,520 Chinese nationals residing in the Wa region without legal documentation. The UWSA (United Wa State Army) continues to keep open a channel for Chinese nationals without legal documents to register for repatriation, and is intensifying its efforts to encourage illegal Chinese entrants to return to their home countries. The announcement stated that illegal Chinese nationals wishing to return home will, after registering at a designated location, be safely escorted by UWSA personnel to the China-Myanmar border gate the following day and handed over to the Chinese police. The UWSA urges Chinese nationals who have entered the Wa region illegally to follow legal procedures if they wish to re-enter the Wa region after returning to their home countries.
