Davao-Bukidnon Road Repair Begins Amidst Supply Chain Concerns

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has begun emergency repairs on a collapsed section of the Davao-Bukidnon Road in Davao City, as announced by Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon. The thoroughfare had collapsed on July 17 in Barangay Marilog Proper. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the repairs to commence as soon as possible to prevent delays in the delivery of vegetables and other agricultural products in the region. "We will begin the repair works. This is just a temporary solution," Dizon stated, emphasizing that the DPWH is actively seeking a long-term solution to the issue. Following an inspection of the collapsed site, Dizon remarked, "We need to provide a long-term solution. We need to design this correctly, considering the danger in the area," indicating a commitment to developing a comprehensive restoration plan promptly. This road serves as a critical agricultural supply route for the Davao region. The collapse has raised concerns about its potential impact on the local economy, particularly the transport of fresh produce, which could lead to price hikes and shortages.
