Vietnam Strengthens Patriotism Education for Youth Through Commemorative Events

Across Vietnam, commemorative activities honoring war heroes, fallen soldiers, and those who contributed to the nation are being actively organized to instill patriotism and national spirit in the younger generation. These initiatives aim to foster a deep understanding of the values of peace, independence, and freedom, and cultivate a sense of responsibility towards the country. In July, particularly leading up to the "War Invalids and Martyrs' Day," various events were held throughout Dong Nai province, from its urban centers to remote border areas, to express gratitude to heroes, martyrs, war invalids, and individuals recognized for their contributions to the revolution. These activities included lighting candles at martyrs' cemeteries, visiting and gifting policy beneficiaries and their families, supporting Vietnamese mothers (Mẹ Việt Nam Anh hùng), providing free health check-ups, and building houses for disadvantaged families. These efforts reflect profound gratitude towards those who sacrificed their youth, blood, and even body parts for the nation's independence and freedom. In the Tran Bien and Dong Xoai wards of Dong Nai province, the Dong Nai Provincial Youth Cultural Center, in coordination with relevant agencies, organized an event where children visited individuals and families recognized for their contributions. This activity provided an opportunity for the children to express their gratitude for the sacrifices and contributions of heroes, martyrs, war invalids, veterans, and former youth volunteers. The children listened to stories about their arduous wartime experiences, gaining a deeper understanding of the nation's history, revolutionary traditions, and the indomitable spirit of their ancestors. As part of the "Summer Volunteer Campaign," approximately 60 students from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City participated in a mission to search for and repatriate the remains of martyrs in Minh Duc commune, Dong Nai province, working alongside the K72 team of the Provincial Military Command. The students supported the soldiers carrying out the task and directly experienced the sacrifices and losses of previous generations. One student, witnessing the remains repatriation process for the first time, expressed a profound realization of the immense sacrifices made for today's peace and a commitment to act responsibly for the country. Every July, activities honoring war heroes, martyrs, war invalids, and those who contributed to the revolution take place across Vietnam.
