PDEA seizes P13.6M shabu in Maguindanao del Norte operation

COTABATO CITY — Anti-narcotics agents seized two kilos of shabu, worth P13.6 million, from an alleged trafficker in an entrapment operation in Barangay Landasan in Parang town in Maguindanao del Norte province on Sunday, June 28. Local executives in Parang who supported the operation confirmed to reporters on Monday that the 42-year-old suspect, Akmad Kaurak Macmod, now in the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), is known for large-scale peddling of shabu in their municipality and in nearby towns in Maguindanao del Norte and in Cotabato City, BARMM’s regional capital. Edgar Jubay, regional director of PDEA-BARMM, told reporters on Monday that the suspect was immediately detained by their agents after allegedly selling to them two kilos of shabu during a buy-bust operation along a stretch of a highway in Barangay Landasan in Parang, one of the 12 towns in Maguindanao del Norte province. Jubay said they will use the P13.6 million worth of shabu seized by PDEA-BARMM agents and policemen from the suspect as evidence in prosecuting him for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Combined PDEA-BARMM agents and operatives from different units of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) also confiscated from Macmod a white Suzuki Ertiga bearing licenses plates NOV 2519, which he allegedly used in transporting his illegal merchandise to his contacts in different towns in Maguindanao del Norte and in interior barangays in Cotabato City. Jubay said the entrapment operation that led to the arrest of the suspect was conducted with the help of the local government unit of Parang and Police Brig. Gen. Christoper Abecia, director of PRO-BAR, whose headquarters is inside Camp SK Pendatun in Barangay Making in Parang.
