Cebu Pacific to Increase Hand-Carry Baggage Allowance to 10kg

Cebu Pacific, a leading low-cost carrier in the Philippines, announced that it will increase its hand-carry baggage allowance from the current 7 kilograms to 10 kilograms on its 5J flights starting September 15, 2026. However, the 7-kilogram limit will remain for its subsidiary, Cebgo (DG) flights. Under the new policy, passengers on 5J flights will be allowed to bring a total of two pieces of hand-carry items: one piece for the overhead bin and one personal item to be placed under the seat. The dimensions for the hand-carry baggage must not exceed 56 centimeters in height, 36 centimeters in length, and 23 centimeters in width. Personal items must be no larger than 20cm x 35cm x 20cm. Cebu Pacific stated that this change aims to provide passengers with greater flexibility, enable more efficient baggage management by its crew, prevent delays in pre-departure procedures, and maintain on-time flights. Passengers whose hand-carry items exceed the allowed number, weight, or size limits will be required to check them in as checked baggage, which may be subject to applicable fees. The airline encourages passengers who require additional baggage to pre-purchase a checked baggage allowance or add more baggage through its Manage Booking portal. This adjustment in baggage regulations is expected to offer more options for air travelers within the Philippines, particularly for Filipino citizens who frequently use low-cost carriers. While it may alleviate some financial burden related to baggage, balancing this with cabin space management and safety will be a key consideration moving forward.
