Thailand has launched “Thailand’s Offer to the World,” a new investment strategy aimed at shifting its economy beyond its traditional manufacturing-base model and toward higher-value partnerships with global investors. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced that the program will focus on advanced technology and AI, the green transition, and the longevity economy. This initiative includes a review of over 7,000 regulations and efforts to advance OECD membership. Bilateral ties between Thailand and Singapore have been upgraded to a “Forward-Looking Strategic Partnership.” Both governments are targeting closer cooperation in digital technology, AI, semiconductors, energy resilience, logistics, and green finance. They also agreed to strengthen trade and investment links and coordinate more closely as Singapore takes the ASEAN chair in 2027, followed by Thailand in 2028. Under the agreement, Thailand will supply Singapore with 100,000 tonnes of rice over five years. Economically, China has begun deploying its 800 billion yuan policy-based financing program to counter weakening investment and slower economic growth, which could impact Thailand's manufacturing sector. Meanwhile, India secured a substantial US$136.4 billion through one-off funding measures, enhancing its capacity to manage currency volatility. This could serve as a benchmark for Thailand in addressing risks from energy price hikes and currency fluctuations. Rising oil prices also pose a concern for Thailand's economy. Tensions in the Middle East have driven up oil prices, directly impacting inflation, transportation costs, household purchasing power, and the trade balance.
