Lam Dong Primary School Receives Solar Power System, Boosting Green Energy Education

On September 21st, the People's Committee of Vĩnh Hảo commune, Lâm Đồng province, announced the reception of a rooftop solar power system at Vĩnh Hảo Primary School. This system was sponsored by Vinh Tan 1 Thermal Power Plant as part of the “Ánh sáng Vĩnh Tân” (Vĩnh Tân's Light) project. The installed system comprises 17kW solar panels and energy storage equipment, with an estimated annual electricity generation of approximately 26,000 kWh. This capacity is expected to meet a significant portion of the school's annual electricity consumption, enabling the school to achieve its goal of "self-sufficiency with green electricity." The project is projected to reduce CO2 emissions by about 11.9 tons annually, equivalent to planting 593 new trees. Mr. Trần Hồng Bàng, General Director of Vinh Tan 1 Thermal Power Plant, highlighted that the plant has supported social security activities in the locality with a total of over 12 billion VND since its operation, implementing nearly 20 people-oriented projects. He stated that this solar power project, which emits no smoke, brings clean energy to every classroom and illuminates every study desk. The company intends to continue researching and expanding more "small but beautiful" people-oriented projects in the future, continuing success stories and strengthening friendship and human connection. Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Long, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vĩnh Hảo commune, noted that utilizing solar energy to serve the school's operations will contribute to saving electricity costs, effectively exploiting clean energy sources, and reducing dependence on the national electricity grid, thereby protecting the environment. He emphasized that this infrastructure project carries practical educational significance. Through the use of clean energy directly at the school, students will have more opportunities to form awareness about energy saving, environmental protection, and jointly building a green lifestyle, moving towards sustainable development. This initiative reinforces two key aspects: Vietnam's government push for renewable energy adoption and the promotion of environmental awareness within the education sector. Specifically, introducing advanced clean energy technology to rural schools is a crucial step in bridging urban-rural disparities and deepening the understanding of environmental issues among future generations.
