Deputy Prime Minister Commends Displaced Residents' Resilience in Banteay Meanchey

Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An (Vice President of the Cambodian Veterans and Retired Persons Association) has praised the resilient spirit of displaced citizens residing in Rong Cham village, Sla Krom commune, Svay Chek district, Banteay Meanchey province. He commended their efforts in organizing their housing and cultivating various crops around their homes, creating a beautiful landscape under the close attention of the provincial administration. The Deputy Prime Minister made these remarks during a visit on Saturday, September 5, 2026, to meet and directly inquire about the well-being of the residents living in Rong Cham village. The visit aimed to inspect their living conditions and encourage the displaced citizens currently residing there. The meeting, which included home visits, was attended by Ms. Sirikaronabuthumrat, Madam Mao Malai, Mr. Um Ratry, the Governor of Banteay Meanchey Province, his wife, various high-ranking leaders, members of the three armed forces, members of the Cambodian Women's Association for Peace and Development of Banteay Meanchey Province, and many civil servants from around the province. Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An expressed his excitement and admiration for the resilient spirit of all displaced citizens who have strived to organize their homes and cultivate crops around their residences, thereby creating a beautiful environment. Furthermore, the citizens are engaged in small-scale trading from their homes to generate income and support their families during this difficult period. Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An strongly urged the displaced citizens to place their trust in the leadership of the government, emphasizing that the government is always with its people and will continue to strive to address all difficulties and necessary needs of the people in a timely manner. It is recalled that currently, Banteay Meanchey province has a total of 3,318 families residing in temporary housing. Among them, 2,805 families of displaced citizens are currently living in temporary accommodations.
