Lam Dong Fishermen See Bumper Catch of Anchovies

In the coastal areas of Lam Dong province, located in Vietnam's Central Highlands, anchovy fishing is experiencing a record-breaking season of abundance. For the past few days, local fishermen have been enjoying large catches, with some earning tens of millions of dong (equivalent to hundreds of thousands of Japanese yen) per trip. Specifically, the boat anchorage in Bai Sau area, Mui Ne ward, has been bustling with activity since around 5 AM. Small boats are seen efficiently transferring anchovies caught offshore into smaller fishing vessels and baskets, then bringing them ashore. This vibrant scene offers significant hope for fishing communities amidst challenging economic conditions. Vietnam, under the one-party rule of the Communist Party, continues to pursue economic growth. In recent years, advancements in technology and infrastructure have been made in primary industries, including fisheries, and this abundant catch can be seen as a partial fruition of these efforts.
