Kratie Police Arrest 4 Suspects in Livestock Theft Ring, Seize 10 Cattle

Kratie Provincial Police have arrested four suspects involved in an active livestock theft ring operating in the province. The operation, conducted from September 15th to 17th, was a three-day effort by specialized police forces in collaboration with their counterparts in Tboung Khmum province, following directives from Kratie Provincial Police Commissioner Major General Ou Sophoanna. The four suspects apprehended are identified as active members of the theft ring, with some also suspected of receiving stolen goods. Authorities stated that the suspects reside in different provinces and are considered key figures in the ongoing livestock theft activities. During the operation, ten cattle and buffaloes were seized as evidence. Police are in the process of returning the confiscated animals to their rightful owners. The suspects are believed to be linked to numerous cattle and buffalo theft cases within Kratie province. Kratie Provincial Police have urged residents who have previously lost cattle or buffaloes to visit the provincial police headquarters to identify and reclaim any animals that may belong to them. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges in maintaining security in Cambodia's rural areas, where livestock theft can have a significant impact on the livelihoods of farmers.
