Cambodian Health Minister Highlights Regional Cooperation and Technological Innovation at ASEAN+3 Health Ministers' Meeting

Dr. Chheang Ra, Minister of Health of Cambodia, attended the 11th ASEAN Plus Three Health Ministers' Meeting (11th APT HMM) on the afternoon of September 10, 2026. The meeting was co-chaired by Malaysia, as the rotating chair of ASEAN, and the People's Republic of China, as the rotating co-chair for the Plus Three countries. During the meeting, the participants agreed on the report of the Preparatory Senior Officials Meeting for the 11th ASEAN Plus Three Health Ministers' Meeting (PrepSOM for 11th APT HMM). They also engaged in discussions and exchanged views on the theme 'Synchronising Health Systems: Scaling Innovation and Longevity across ASEAN Plus Three'. On this occasion, Dr. Chheang Ra, Cambodia's Minister of Health, delivered an intervention focusing on three key aspects: 1. Synchronising health systems by strengthening regional cooperation to effectively respond to public health challenges that arise unexpectedly. 2. Transforming health technology and fostering high innovation through the promotion of digital technology and artificial intelligence for health, thereby increasing equity in healthcare. 3. Preparing for an aging population by expanding cooperation on healthcare for the elderly to ensure healthy longevity in the ASEAN Plus Three region. As a result, the meeting successfully adopted the 'Joint Statement of the 11th ASEAN Plus Three Health Ministers' Meeting,' which reflects the shared commitment between ASEAN and the Plus Three countries.
