Fisherman Discovers Approximately 60kg of Drugs in Cambodian Sea, Reports to Authorities
A Cambodian fisherman discovered approximately 60kg of illicit drugs floating in the sea off Sihanoukville and promptly handed them over to the authorities. The drugs are believed to have been discarded by criminals during an anti-drug operation the previous night. Legal proceedings are underway.
Approximately 60 kilograms of illicit drugs, contained in 60 packages, have been discovered by a fisherman in the sea off Sihanoukville, Cambodia, and subsequently handed over to the authorities. The discovery was made on the morning of September 24, 2026. The fisherman, identified as Si Sueon, a 46-year-old male residing in Kilow 12 village, Khtum village, Kampot province, found three bags containing the drugs floating near Koh Seh island. He collected the packages and delivered them to the military police in Sihanoukville. Following authorization from Colonel Heng Bunty, Commander of the Sihanoukville Provincial Military Police, and under the procedural coordination of Mr. Vuth Savi, Deputy Prosecutor of the Provincial Court, Lieutenant Colonel Longhoah, Chief of the Provincial Military Police's Anti-Drug Crimes Office, officially handed over the 60 packages of drugs to Lieutenant Colonel En Samol, Chief of the Anti-Drug Crimes Office of the Provincial Police Commissionerate, on the afternoon of the same day. Further legal proceedings are expected. Military police officials added that the drugs discovered by the fisherman are believed to be part of evidence discarded into the sea by criminal elements attempting to evade arrest during an operation conducted by the Water Border Protection Department on the night of September 23, 2026, near Koh Seh island.
