Cambodian Foreign Minister to Address Regional and Global Issues at UN General Assembly

Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Prak Sokhonn, will lead a high-level delegation to attend the General Debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled to take place from September 22 to 28, 2026. This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The meeting will be held at the UN Headquarters in New York under the theme, "Restoring Trust, Reigniting Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the Global Goals and Financing for Development." During the General Debate, Deputy Prime Minister Sokhonn is expected to deliver a statement highlighting Cambodia's perspective on significant regional and global issues. He will also underscore the importance of adhering to multilateralism and the necessity of further strengthening the role and effectiveness of the UN system in addressing the complex and evolving challenges faced by the international community. Cambodia's top diplomat will also address Cambodia's development priorities and strategies, as well as its commitment to continuing to promote sustainable and inclusive development. In addition to the General Debate, he is scheduled to hold various bilateral meetings to exchange views on strengthening bilateral relations and increasing Cambodia's contribution to maintaining international peace, security, and sustainable development.
