Hong Kong, Guangdong, Macao Business Delegation Explores Cambodian Investment
A business delegation from Hong Kong, Guangdong, and Macao expressed strong interest in investing in Cambodia's high-potential sectors like infrastructure, technology, and finance during a meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet. The Prime Minister highlighted the government's commitment to fostering a favorable investment climate through reforms and incentives.
AKP Phnom Penh, August 7, 2026 — A business delegation from Hong Kong, Guangdong and Macao has expressed strong interest in exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia’s high-potential sectors during a courtesy call and working meeting with Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the Peace Palace on Friday afternoon. The delegation, comprising representatives from the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (CGCC) and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Entrepreneurs Alliance (GBA Alliance), included around 20 companies led by Mr. Jonathan K.S. Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group, Chairman of the CGCC, and Chairman of the GBA Alliance. During the meeting, the delegation commended Cambodia’s rapid development across various sectors and expressed strong confidence in the country’s investment climate. They explained that the visit aimed to explore business opportunities in a wide range of priority sectors, including infrastructure and real estate, banking and finance, technology, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, energy, transport and logistics, aviation, agriculture, education and vocational training, and healthcare. In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the delegation’s interest in investing in Cambodia and highlighted the Royal Government’s efforts to foster a favourable business environment. He outlined a series of policies and reforms designed to attract investors, including institutional reforms, streamlined administrative procedures, and tax incentives for priority sectors to ensure the long-term success of investment projects. The Prime Minister also stressed the government’s commitment to further improving national connectivity through the development of road, waterway and railway infrastructure, as well as expanding international air links, with the aim of reducing transport costs and enhancing Cambodia’s competitiveness. He noted that investing in Cambodia offers businesses an opportunity to integrate into regional and global supply chains, supported by the country’s bilateral and regional free trade agreements. He reaffirmed the Royal Government’s commitment to maintaining a resilient, competitive and secure investment environment. At the conclusion of the meeting, Samdech Thipadei encouraged the CGCC and GBA Alliance to strengthen cooperation with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions in order to translate their interest into concrete investment projects in the Kingdom.
