Cambodia Pushes for Mine Clearance and Development Synergy - Deputy Minister Ly Thuch Urges Stakeholder Cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Mine Authority, His Excellency Ly Thuch, urged all relevant parties to continue working together to implement the spirit of "clearing the past, protecting the future" by proactively searching for and removing hidden dangers from mines before they can harm the people. He made this call during a meeting with relevant officials on linking mine action with development in Ratanakiri province on August 4, 2026, held at the provincial hall. His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister encouraged all stakeholders to jointly implement the spirit of clearing the past and protecting the future, by continuing to search for and eliminate hidden dangers before they impact the population. He stressed the goal of transforming minefields into "fields of peace" and "safe farmlands," serving as a source of hope and a foundation for development. His Excellency Ly Thuch stated that mine action is a crucial humanitarian mission. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, the Cambodian government has set clear objectives through the National Mine Action Policy 2026-2035, aiming for a Cambodia free from the impact of explosive ordnance and ensuring no mine victim is left behind. On behalf of the Royal Government and the people of Cambodia, His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to donor countries, development partners, mine action operators, philanthropists, and all involved parties for their active support of the humanitarian mission of mine action in Cambodia. This support has significantly contributed to reducing mine casualties, enhancing safety, and promoting socio-economic development, enabling citizens to live with peace and hope for the future.
