Chinese National Arrested in Banglamung with 1,292 Packs of Contraband Cigarettes

A 29-year-old Chinese national was arrested in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi province, for possessing a large quantity of untaxed cigarettes. Officers from Nong Prue Police Station, in coordination with the Excise Department’s Suppression Division 3.2, raided a private distribution center on Phonprapanimitr 13 Road. The operation led to the arrest of the Chinese man. During the raid, officials seized 1,292 packs of cigarettes. These are considered contraband as they have not incurred the applicable taxes within Thailand. Police are investigating the facility as a potential distribution hub for smuggled tobacco within the country. Thailand imposes significant taxes on tobacco products, making the handling of contraband cigarettes an illegal activity. Such crackdowns are part of ongoing efforts to ensure tax revenue collection and protect public health.
