Eighty families residing in Pou Trei commune, Pechr Chenda district, Mondulkiri province, have benefited from the provision of latrine construction materials, supported and implemented by the provincial Department of Rural Development. The "Patipath" latrine material distribution ceremony took place on July 13, 2026, under the presence of Mr. Kang Cheang, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Rural Development, and Mrs. Bun Chanthar, Chief of the Rural Health Office. During the event, construction materials for 80 latrines were handed over to 80 families from three villages in Pou Trei commune, Pechr Chenda district. Mr. Kang Cheang stated that supplying latrines to residents is an action that helps the community maintain a clean environment and good sanitation, thereby reducing the risk of diseases caused by poor hygiene. He emphasized that providing these construction materials also contributes to promoting the cessation of open defecation and improving the quality of life for rural residents. He urged the beneficiaries to use and maintain the latrines properly and sustainably, contributing to the preservation of the community's environment and health. He added that this reflects the government's commitment to enhancing the well-being and living standards of people in rural areas. The provision of latrines was met with enthusiasm by the residents, who consider it a significant contribution to reducing open defecation and improving family hygiene, especially for women, children, and the elderly. Mr. Rotha, a 45-year-old resident who received the materials, expressed gratitude to the relevant officials and authorities for their attention to solving sanitation issues in the locality. He expressed hope that such projects would continue to expand to other families, enabling the entire community to have a clean environment, good health, and live with dignity. It is reported that expanding the use of latrines in rural areas is part of the national goal to promote public health and sustainable development.
