Three arrested in Cavite for alleged electric meter tampering services

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP–CIDG) on Tuesday said it arrested three men in Cavite for allegedly offering “services” to tamper with electric meters. In a statement, the CIDG said it arrested the three individuals, whom it did not identify, in Sitio Cubao, Barangay Kabulusan in General Emilio Aguinaldo town. The suspects were allegedly involved in manipulating electric meters to reduce electricity consumption, thereby defrauding power utilities. The CIDG stated that these individuals offered services to alter the meters, leading to under-billing. The operation was a result of intelligence gathering and surveillance conducted by the CIDG. The group emphasized its commitment to curbing illegal activities that affect public utilities and consumer rights. "We are committed to ensuring that all citizens are paying their rightful dues and that no one is taking advantage of the system," a CIDG official said in a statement. "This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to maintain order and fairness in the supply of essential services."
