Thailand Warns of Heavy Rainfall Until End of July, Urging Caution for Floods and Landslides

The Thai Meteorological Department has issued its 10th announcement regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall across Thailand, which is expected to persist until July 30, 2024. During July 28-30, 2024, Thailand will experience heavy rainfall in many areas, with some locations facing very heavy rainfall. This is particularly true for the northern, northeastern, central, eastern, and western coastal regions. The meteorological conditions are influenced by the monsoon trough passing through the northern and upper northeastern parts of Thailand. Simultaneously, the southwest monsoon, which is currently covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, is relatively strong. The public is urged to be cautious of the dangers arising from heavy to very heavy rainfall and accumulated water. These conditions may lead to flash floods and landslides, especially in areas on the slopes of hills near waterways and in low-lying areas. Regarding maritime conditions, the northern Andaman Sea will experience relatively strong winds with waves ranging from 2 to 3 meters. In areas with thunderstorms, wave heights may exceed 3 meters. The upper Gulf of Thailand and the lower Andaman Sea will have waves of approximately 2 meters, with heights exceeding 2 meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Seafarers in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are advised to navigate with caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the northern Andaman Sea are particularly advised to refrain from departing during the aforementioned period.
