President says healthcare expenditure will continue to be increased

State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that healthcare expenditure will continue to be increased. The State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said this in his State Address on the 100-day performance of the government, which was delivered on the 12th day of the second regular meeting of the third regular session of the Union Parliament held on July 31. State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that the government's healthcare expenditure, which was 2.3 percent in 2025-2026, will continue to be increased to 2.79 percent in 2026-2027. It is planned to appoint about 1,200 new doctors and about 2,600 new nurses by the end of 2026, and preparations are underway to do so. He also said that in cooperation with China, cardiac disease risk assessment and treatment for up to 100,000 patients per year will be carried out in the major cities of Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, and Mandalay. Furthermore, the State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that priority is being given to the reconstruction of hospitals, clinics, and buildings damaged by disasters and conflicts, and that school health activities will also be accelerated.
