Dong Thap Province Collects 71 Sets of Remains from Durian Orchard

In Dong Thap Province, southern Vietnam, 71 sets of remains believed to be from the war era have been collected by Unit K91 from beneath a durian orchard. The unit is proceeding with careful excavation to ensure the dignified return of these martyrs to their homeland, families, and fellow soldiers. This operation is part of a broader initiative in the province to search for, collect, and identify the remains of war martyrs. Previously, 42 sets of remains were found under a coconut grove in another location within the province, and a significant number of remains were also discovered in a durian orchard. Efforts are also underway to preserve and hand over the remains of 531 unidentified martyrs and to expedite the process of identifying them. Under Vietnam's one-party system, honoring war martyrs and showing consideration for their families are considered crucial elements for national unity and social stability. Even amidst economic growth, efforts continue to respect the memories of past wars and to console the bereaved. This can be seen as a demonstration of the nation's historical continuity and its attentiveness to public sentiment.
