Vietnam Seeks Enhanced Bilateral Ties with Multiple Nations

Vietnam has sent congratulations to Burundian leaders on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations (April 16, 1975–2025). Both leaders agreed to continue facilitating the exchange of delegations at all levels and through various channels to bolster political trust and create new momentum. The Vietnamese and Burundi Presidents agreed to enhance high-level exchanges and strengthen political trust through various channels, as well as to effectively implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms, especially the political consultations between the two foreign ministries. The two chief justices reaffirmed that the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between Vietnam and Laos are an invaluable asset of the two nations. They agreed to continue effectively implementing high-level agreements reached by the two Parties and States, thereby further strengthening cooperation between the two judicial systems. The two ministers highlighted promising prospects for cooperation in trade, investment, the digital economy, the green economy, renewable energy, culture, education and training. Cambodia has always been identified as one of Viettel's key overseas markets with strong long-term growth potential. Furthermore, Vietnam highly values the positive development of the Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, affirming substantial potential for cooperation in high-quality human resources development, science and technology, innovation, national governance, and sustainable development. Australia is one of Vietnam's important development partners, with cooperation consistently focusing on practical outcomes aligned with Vietnam's development priorities. Vietnam also attaches importance to its Comprehensive Partnership with Canada, welcoming Canada’s strategic orientations towards the Indo-Pacific, including its support for ASEAN's centrality and its recognition of Vietnam’s role as a gateway for trade with the region. With Panama, both sides agreed that they could serve as gateways linking the economies of ASEAN and Latin America, and expressed a desire to further strengthen traditional friendship and cooperation. The Vietnamese Government highly evaluates the IMF’s assessments and recommendations, considering them an important source of reference in policymaking and implementation. Following new development orientations after the third meeting of the 14th Party Central Committee, Vietnam is prioritizing science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, private-sector development, and high-quality human resources. These are areas where Australia has considerable strengths and offer substantial potential for expanded cooperation. The National Assembly (NA) is set to deliberate 31 items, including the adoption of 15 draft laws, four draft resolutions, five major issues, and the first readings of seven additional bills. Vietnam's contribution to ASEAN reflects not only deeper regional economic and foreign integration but also its emergence as a key driver of ASEAN's development, resilience, and global standing.
