Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam Agree to Enhance Information Exchange and Joint Operations

Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sar Sokha, has proposed the establishment of a standing mechanism for information exchange and cooperation among Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, particularly concerning crime suppression, including online scams, and immigration procedures. This initiative received strong, confident support from Vietnam's Minister of Public Security, General Luong Tam Quang. The proposed trilateral mechanism aims to enhance cooperation and facilitate the rapid and effective exchange of information between the law enforcement agencies of the three countries. Key objectives include sharing data on foreign nationals with criminal records or those blacklisted for entry, as well as streamlining procedures for the repatriation of citizens involved in criminal activities. This agreement was reached during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha and Minister Luong Tam Quang on June 29, 2026, in Phnom Penh, on the sidelines of the 2nd Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Ministerial Meeting hosted by the Cambodian Ministry of Interior.
