Prabowo Signs Presidential Decree Appointing New Prosecutors General Officials

President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has signed a Presidential Decree (Keppres) appointing several key officials within the Attorney General's Office, including the Deputy Attorney General and the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus). Mensesneg Prasetyo Hadi stated at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7) that the President had signed the Keppres based on the recommendations of the final assessment team, following the proposal from the Attorney General. Administrative follow-ups are being processed. According to Prasetyo, Asep Nana Mulyana has been appointed as the Deputy Attorney General. Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak will serve as the Junior Attorney General for General Crimes. "Then Kuntadi as the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes," Pras added. Furthermore, Herli Siregar has been appointed as the Head of the Education and Training Agency of the Attorney General's Office, and Patris Yusrian Jaya as the Head of the Asset Recovery Agency of the Attorney General's Office. This reshuffling of key positions within the Attorney General's Office is seen as a move by the Prabowo administration to potentially reform or influence the judicial sector. The appointment of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, in particular, could signal a shift in focus for investigations into corruption and economic crimes.
