The regions where localized heavy rains are likely to occur include Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Region, Bago Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kayin State, Chin State, Mon State, and Rakhine State, and it is also known that thunderstorms with heavy rain may occur in these areas from scattered to widespread. Furthermore, along the Myanmar coast and offshore waters, squalls with strong winds are expected to occur occasionally, leading to high waves. During squalls, the wind speed over water and land can reach 30 to 35 miles per hour, and the wave height along the Myanmar coast and offshore waters may be around 9 to 11 feet, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology announced. Therefore, due to the strengthening monsoon winds in the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal, which have become very strong, and the influence of the low-pressure system forming in the northwest Bay of Bengal and along the coastlines of northern Odisha and West Bengal states in India, which is connected to it, natural disasters such as heavy rainfall, strong winds, sudden floods, and landslides may occur. Residents living near elevated areas are advised to be aware of the risk of landslides, and residents living near small rivers and streams are advised to be aware of the risk of floods and inundation. The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has also notified domestic airlines, coastal and offshore fishing vessels, and ships along the Myanmar coast and offshore waters to take precautions in advance.
