Thai Government Partners with AIS Academy to Integrate AI in Education, Upskill Teachers

The Thai government is strengthening its efforts to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology into the nation's education system through a collaboration with AIS Academy, a subsidiary of leading telecommunications company AIS. This partnership, part of the 'AIS Academy for Thais "Think Ahead for Thais"' project, aims to elevate the quality of Thai education and cultivate a workforce prepared for the digital era. According to a government spokesperson, the collaboration seeks to utilize AI as a pedagogical tool, reducing the administrative workload for teachers and allowing them more time to focus on student development. The initiative also includes the development of curricula in AI, cloud computing, and other digital skills, alongside the implementation of a competency certification system and a Credit Bank for academic credits. These measures are expected to enhance students' opportunities for further education and employment, meeting the talent demands of future industries. Furthermore, the government is committed to expanding high-speed internet access to schools in remote areas, promoting lifelong learning through digital libraries, and reinforcing cybersecurity education for students and the public. This focus aims to improve awareness of online threats and enable safe and effective technology use. The initiative is also seen as a crucial step in preparing Thai students for the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2029. By enhancing digital literacy and adapting the education system to global changes, Thailand aims to nurture a high-quality talent pool that is competitive and capable of sustainable growth in the future AI-driven world.
