Vietnam Commemorates Fallen Heroes with Candlelight Tributes

Across Vietnam on July 26, 'candlelight tribute' ceremonies were held to honor fallen heroes ahead of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27). In Dong Thap province, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee collaborated with local People's Committees to organize tribute ceremonies at the Provincial Martyrs Cemetery (Trung An and My Tra wards) and the Tam Nong Border Martyrs Cemetery. Approximately 15,000 youth union members participated, lighting candles in remembrance of the fallen heroes. Similar commemorative events were organized by the Naval Region 3 Command in various activities for War Invalids and Martyrs Day. Reports also indicate that youth union members in Dien Bien province lit candles at the A1 Martyrs Cemetery, showcasing the nationwide scope of these observances. Photographs of candlelight tributes at martyrs' cemeteries in Ho Chi Minh City were also published, reflecting the widespread nature of these events. These activities aim to pass on gratitude for those who sacrificed their lives for the country in past wars, including the Vietnam War, to the younger generation, thereby deepening their understanding of national history. This is considered an important initiative to foster patriotism and strengthen social solidarity, as advocated by the Communist Party of Vietnam.
