Arrangements to be made for age adjustment for the education of children who have fallen behind

Deputy Minister of Education, U Nay Myo Hlaing, stated that as a special program to prevent children who have fallen behind from losing their educational opportunities, age limits will be relaxed and arrangements will be made for them to take the Placement Test. This test is scheduled to be conducted in the second week of August. During the 29th day of the third regular session of the second Pyidaungsu Hluttaw held on July 24, Daw Ei Phyu Lwin, the People's Hluttaw representative for the Gangaw constituency, asked whether it would be possible to allow children who are currently attending school but have fallen behind due to various reasons to participate in the Placement Test education program and to adjust their ages and grades, and whether there are plans to implement out-of-school education for children aged 15 to 18. In response to this question, Deputy Minister U Nay Myo Hlaing provided the following answer. Deputy Minister of Education, U Nay Myo Hlaing, said that this year, as a special program, arrangements are being made to allow children who have fallen behind and are outside the formal school system in border areas and some regions and states to take the out-of-school education Placement Test so that their educational opportunities are not lost. He also stated that age limits are being relaxed and arrangements are being made to grant the opportunity to take the Placement Test. Those who successfully pass the out-of-school middle school education (NFME) Level-3 will be recognized as having passed Grade-9 of basic education. Students aged 13 to 18 will be able to continue attending regular high schools, and students aged 18 and above, for whom the age limit has been relaxed, will be given the opportunity to continue taking Grade 10, Grade-11, and Grade-12 classes through the in-school and out-of-school examination system. For the Placement Test, district education officers, under the supervision of regional and state education officers, are systematically scrutinizing and verifying students' educational and age-related documents. For children coming from areas where peace and stability prevail, their previous educational documents will be examined and approved. Furthermore, Deputy Minister U Nay Myo Hlaing stated that for children from areas where an emergency has been declared, educational documents may not be complete. In such cases, they will be allowed to take the Placement Test with recommendations from the relevant ward or village administrators where they resided, educational recommendations from the principals of basic education schools in the area, and age recommendations from health officials.
