Vietnam Holds 'Garland of Fire' Concert to Honor Fallen Heroes

Across Vietnam, memorial events honoring fallen heroes are being held one after another ahead of the 79th anniversary of the Day of Fallen Soldiers and Heroes. The Vietnam National Contemporary Art Theatre organized a musical event titled 'Garland of Fire' (Vành hoa lửa) on July 26 at 7:30 PM at the Vietnam Cultural Space (79 Hàng Trống) in Hanoi. This event is part of the theatre's activities dedicated to the anniversary. Such memorial activities serve as crucial occasions for Vietnamese society to remember and express gratitude for the contributions of those who sacrificed their lives during past wars and revolutions. They carry significant meaning in collectively sharing the immense sacrifices made for nation-building and defense, and in passing this legacy to future generations. Under the one-party system led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, fostering national unity and patriotism through such national commemorations is particularly emphasized. In Quang Ninh province, a special artistic program was also organized to commemorate the 79th anniversary of the Day of Fallen Soldiers and Heroes. Furthermore, a candle-lighting ceremony and an artistic program titled 'Continuing the Legend - National Aspirations' were held at the Vi Xuyen Martyrs' Cemetery. An artistic program titled 'Uncle Ho - Two Sacred Words' was also movingly presented. These activities demonstrate how Vietnam, while continuing its economic growth, still confronts the memories of past wars and positions its historical legacy in shaping national identity. Alongside economic development, efforts to emphasize the nation's historical continuity and national solidarity are important elements within Vietnam's socio-political context.
