Vietnam Promotes Return of Young Overseas Citizens Through Ho Chi Minh City Summer Camp

For five days, from August 25, 2026, 50 overseas Vietnamese youths participated in the 2026 Overseas Vietnamese Youth Summer Camp organized by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. The program aimed to deepen participants' understanding of the history and traditional cultural beauty of the Vietnamese nation, fostering love for their homeland among the younger generation. This initiative is linked to Resolution 23, which promotes the contribution of overseas Vietnamese to national development. It also aims to build a network of overseas Vietnamese experts and serve as a "bridge" connecting overseas citizens with their homeland. Vietnam has recently intensified policies to encourage the return and participation of overseas Vietnamese in nation-building. Especially for Vietnam, which continues to experience economic growth, the expertise and international networks of overseas citizens are indispensable. The Vietnamese Communist Party, under its one-party system, emphasizes the organization and utilization of overseas Vietnamese (Kieu Bao) to accelerate domestic development, and this summer camp is seen as part of that strategy. Concluded under the theme "Journey of Heritage, Connection to Roots," this summer camp encouraged participants to reconnect with their origins and rekindle their passion for their homeland. It demonstrates a facet of Vietnam's strategy to foster national unity and leverage diverse talents as the country aims for economic growth and enhanced international standing.
