Four Arrested, Nearly 6kg of Crystal Meth Seized in Phuket Drug Bust
A major operation in Phuket by narcotics control authorities resulted in the seizure of nearly 5.7 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and the arrest of four suspects. The bust suggests the involvement of international drug trafficking networks, with investigations ongoing.
Phuket – Border Patrol Police Unit 425, working in coordination with the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), carried out a major operation in Phuket that led to the arrest of four suspects and the seizure of nearly 5.7 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (“ice”) along with ketamine and drug paraphernalia. Authorities first apprehended three suspects. Further investigation led to the arrest of one more individual and the discovery of the significant drug haul. The sheer volume of narcotics seized indicates a strong possibility that the drugs were trafficked into Thailand, specifically to the popular tourist destination of Phuket, by international drug trafficking organizations. Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the backgrounds of the arrested individuals and the routes used for drug smuggling. This operation underscores the critical importance of Thailand's anti-drug efforts, particularly in safeguarding the safety and security of tourists visiting the country. Officials have stated that vigilance will be increased moving forward. Information Source: The Phuket Express
