Preah Sihanouk Inspects Infrastructure to Prevent Flood Damage Amidst Rainy Season

In Preah Sihanouk Province, a major port city in southern Cambodia, Governor Mang Sineth led a team of experts to inspect bridges, canals, and roads within the city to prevent flood damage caused by heavy rainfall during the rainy season. The inspection covered areas particularly susceptible to flooding, including the Untak Bridge (District 3), June 28th Road, the canal near the Independence Hotel, Chamkar Spey Bridge (Srei Traloun), Angkor Molup Tapang Bridge, and canals in District 4. During the inspection, Governor Sineth instructed the experts to install additional drainage pipes on Independence Road near the Untak Bridge to facilitate the rapid discharge of rainwater into the canal. He also urged local authorities to clear soil and debris from the mouths of the drainage channels to ensure swift water flow, thereby preventing flooding in various parts of the city due to heavy seasonal rains. Preah Sihanouk City has experienced rapid economic development and urbanization in recent years, and the lagging infrastructure development has contributed to the exacerbation of flood damage during heavy rains. This inspection and the subsequent measures are seen as a response to urgent issues aimed at stabilizing residents' lives and maintaining the city's function as an international logistics hub.
