Cambodia: Husband Murders Wife, Escaping Suspect Dies in Motorcycle Accident
A brutal murder occurred in Kampong Speu province, Cambodia, where a husband killed his wife. The escaping suspect subsequently died in a motorcycle accident while being pursued. The motive remains unclear.
A brutal murder occurred in Po Skanadal village, Baset district, Kampong Speu province, Cambodia, on the night of July 22, 2026, around 8:00 PM. The suspect, Um Sokun (36 years old), murdered his wife, Khlot Sreyni (35 years old), at their home. The motive for the killing is currently unknown. Following the incident, Um Sokun fled the scene on a light blue Let's motorcycle (license plate: Kampong Speu 1M-1903) along with the knife used in the crime. Under the command of the Kampong Speu Provincial Police Commissioner, the Baset District Police collaborated with the Samrong District Police in Takéo province to pursue the suspect. Around 11:00 PM on the same night, a traffic accident occurred on National Road No. 2, between kilometers 65-66, in Svay Prey village, Lum Chon commune, Samrong district, Takéo province. The suspect's motorcycle collided with a white Hyundai 2.5-ton truck (license plate: Phnom Penh 3G.5635), resulting in Um Sokun's immediate death at the scene, according to reports from the Takéo Provincial Police. The body of the murder suspect, Um Sokun, was processed according to legal procedures by the traffic police of Samrong District Police and handed over to his relatives. Source: CEN Cambodia
