Cambodia Ministry Inspects Factory Over Abusive Language Towards Workers
Cambodia's Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has investigated a factory following social media complaints about abusive language towards workers. Inspectors have instructed management to use respectful language and gestures towards employees, demanding corrective action. The ministry encourages workers to report such incidents.
Phnom Penh, September 22, 2026—Following complaints received via social media regarding the use of inappropriate language and gestures towards employees, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training dispatched a special labour inspection team to investigate Xin Kai Li Garment Co., Ltd. on September 21, 2026. Mr. Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, confirmed to journalists on September 22 that the inspection found instances of inappropriate language and gestures from section chiefs and team leaders within the production department. The inspection team has instructed the employer to guide the individuals involved to correct their behaviour and use respectful language towards the workers. "Upon receiving the complaint, the Ministry immediately conducted an inspection and took action. Regardless of nationality or position, managers must respect the law, use appropriate language, and uphold the dignity of the workers," stated Mr. Sun Mesa. The Ministry urges workers and the public to report any instances of inappropriate language, gestures, or behaviour encountered in the workplace to the Ministry via Hotline 1286, enabling specialized officials to investigate and take timely action.
