MANILA, Philippines — An additional P1.6-billion allocation to the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. has been approved by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. With the PCSO’s total PhilHealth contribution for the year reaching P3.85 billion, its remittances to the state health insurer since 2022 are projected to reach P13.98 billion by year-end. “Behind these figures are Filipino families who depend on PhilHealth when a loved one is hospitalized or needs medical treatment,” PCSO general manager Melquiades Robles said. Under the Universal Health Care Act, the PCSO is mandated to allocate 40 percent of its net charity fund to finance the expansion of PhilHealth’s benefit packages. Data showed the PCSO has transferred P11.47 billion to PhilHealth through the Bureau of the Treasury from 2022 up to the first half of 2026. Remittances in 2022 were at P2.71 billion, followed by P2 billion in 2023, P2.13 billion in 2024, P2.87 billion in 2025 and P1.94 billion in the first half of this year. Another P2.51 billion in projected remittances in the second half will bring the total cumulative contributions to P13.98 billion by year-end.
