Ho Chi Minh City has announced a cooperation agreement between the Management Board of Industrial Parks and Export Processing Zones (Hepza), VNPT Ho Chi Minh City, and Vietcombank Tan Binh Branch to promote digital transformation and digital infrastructure development for industrial parks, export processing zones, and businesses within the city. This collaboration aims to realize the policies of the Party, State, and the city on developing science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, with a particular focus on supporting digitalization from 2026 to 2030. Key aspects of the agreement include the joint implementation of digital transformation in Hepza's management and operations, and providing digitalization support to businesses within industrial parks. Furthermore, it involves building a system to track the digital transformation index of industrial parks, digitizing archives, developing 5G infrastructure, implementing digital skills training programs, and supporting businesses in applying digital management solutions for smart factories, IoT, AI, and electronic transactions. Additionally, the partnership will develop financial and banking solutions to enhance investment promotion activities and support businesses and workers in industrial parks and export processing zones. By combining digital technologies with financial services, the aim is to expand the service ecosystem for corporate clients. Mr. Le Van Thinh, Deputy Head of Hepza, emphasized that this cooperation framework not only opens opportunities for developing smart industrial park models but also contributes to forming an ecosystem of digital infrastructure, digital platforms, and digital finance. This is seen as a foundation for building and developing ecological, green, smart, and digitized industrial parks, integrating production, research, service, and urban infrastructure. The initiative seeks to deepen integration into global value chains and affirm the city's role as a leading high-tech industrial and innovation center in the country and the region. According to planning, Ho Chi Minh City currently has 105 industrial parks and export processing zones with a total area of 50,288 hectares. Of these, 58 zones are operational, covering a total area of 22,410 hectares, accounting for 44.6% of the planned area. In the first six months of 2026, the total investment attracted into industrial parks and export processing zones reached USD 1.1 billion. This included new registrations for 50 projects totaling USD 609.71 million and adjustments to 73 projects increasing capital by USD 490.94 million. Domestic enterprises and foreign direct investment (FDI) investors are looking for the city to focus on developing digital infrastructure, green energy, and smart supply chains to bring high industrial value and achieve sustainable development.
